Rathbun's Original Menu Art to be Released

The first ten will go up for auction on this Sunday.

For Rathbun’s five-year birthday party, Kevin Rathbun is debuting his artist side with his introduction of his personal collection of “Original Menu Art” that he drew between May, 2004 and May, 2005 at Rathbun’s. Kevin has listed the value of these original drawings at $100.00 each however, he mentions, that one recently sold at the Beastly Feast Auction for over $150.00.
His first charity to benefit from the “Original Menu Art” drawings is the Inman Park Security Patrol.

In 2004, when Rathbun’s first opened, Kevin Rathbun personally hand drew every specials menu and added his little food and plate drawings near the names of the specials. He saved every one of those original hand-drawn menus, which were completed in pencil and are now signed and numbered artists proofs. Each menu is one of one and are named “Original Menu Art”. Kevin has approximately two hundred and fifty of the drawings and will be auctioning them off on a quarterly basis starting June 10th, 2009.

Barbecue Cooking Class

This past Sunday, July 20th, we had our annual barbecue cooking class. With over 18 people in the class, they served up some of the finest barbecue in the city. Chef Kevin used the Brinkman smoker to smoke over 200 pounds of brisket and ribs. The class made all types of sides that included slaw, New York Strip Steaks, Coconut Cream desserts, and suffered through the heat with Bing Cherry Margaritas and cold beer. Stay tuned for the next class and the 2009 classes that will be posted in October, 2008. Pictures of the class will follow.
